This is a 6-day itinerary through my home country of North Yorkshire. As a local of the region, I will take you to some of its most treasured Tudor locations, both on and off the tourist trail. Get ready to explore: Reivaulx Abbey, Mount Grace Priory, Sheriff Hutton Castle, York, Markenfiled Hall, Fountains Abbey, Snape Castle, Jervalux Abbey, Middleham Castle and Bolton Castle.
Let’s head into south-east Wales, just across the border from England, to enjoy the best of its famous castles and historic buildings. Discover the mighty Chepstow and Raglan Castles, associated with the Earls of Worcester and Pembroke, along with the idyllic and tranquil setting for the ruins of Tintern Abbey.

We enjoy a leisurely weekend break, exploring three fascinating locations with Tudor connections in the area: Cowdray House, The Weald and Downland Living Museum and Arundel Castle. From haunting ruins to an immersion in the life of an ordinary Tudor and, finally, on to one of the most spectacular castles in southern England, West Sussex has much to offer the Tudor time traveller.
Let’s explore a history-packed weekend in the ancient city of Winchester! With deep historical roots that reach way back into pre-history, the City is a veritable treasure trove of heritage buildings. From its spectacular cathedral through to an exquisite Tudor artefact associated with the marriage of Mary I to Philip of Spain, Winchester is a time traveller’s delight!
Of all the counties in England, Kent has many Tudor riches to enjoy. This is primarily because of its position close to London and en route to the Continent but also because of its connection to the Boleyn family. In this 6-day itinerary, we will travel from east to west, visiting some of the best Tudor places the county has to offer.
Associated with Englandโs most famous playwright, William Shakespeare, we tour six fabulously historic locations in Shakespeareโs Stratford-Upon-Avon. We will follow the Bard from the cradle to the grave, mapping the chronology of his life through some iconic Tudor places.
The birthplace of the Tudor dynasty and a county inextricably linked with the first Tudor monarch: Henry VII, Pembrokeshire is rich with Tudor connections and makes for a fantastic long weekend break. We discover the county’s best Tudor places, from beaches and castles to cathedrals and churches to Elizabethan houses, with underground tunnels thrown in for good measure.
York is the capital city and crowning jewel of North Yorkshire. It is among a select handful of English cities to have most of its medieval walls still intact, and within those walls, wonky medieval buildings and higgledy-piggledy streets abound. The treasure trove of historic buildings makes the city deserving of at least two days of sightseeing.
Norfolk is a county steeped in significant Tudor history. At its centre is the city of Norwich, once Englandโs second-largest and wealthiest city after London. From the home of the Boleyns at Blickling to the ruined Howard Mausoleum at Thetford, there is plenty to explore.
Enjoy a four-day tour through the Cotswolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB). We travel from north to south, from the exquisitely beautiful Sudeley Castle to Acton Court, with its range built in 1535 to host a royal visit by King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.
